life in passport pictures

ballerina by day, world traveler by night

college student in need of better hair products and some sleep

ready for adventure; hair under control; accidentally dressed like a mime again.

Yesterday I took a new passport photo for our upcoming residencymoon [a term I just created] to Holland/Belgium. (aka, let's go on a vacation because chances are slim you'll get one anytime in the next EVER). The Rite Aid where I stopped informed me that their camera was broken, and wouldn't you know it -- I had managed to stop at the only drugstore in America where there isn't another drugstore across the street.

{two photos are are missing - thank goodness my high school passport is missing, I assure you that photo doesn't need to be shared. Although my 3-year-old passport was probably pretty cute. }

  1. oh my passport photos are horrendous! Yours are MUCH better! There was one where the guy told me I had to open my eyes wide and couldn't show any teeth and shouldn't smile (essentially he told me to look like I had been traveling for a day and was tired but with open eyes). I ended up with a photo which A) looks nothing like me and B) makes me look even more like a crazy person than necessary.
    He told me it was the rules, but I don't believe him.

    1. Haha I guess if you look like you've been traveling all day, you'll look more like you do when you show your passport!

      The guy who took my picture told me all these rules - take off my jewelry, put my hair behind my shoulders, look 1 inch to the left, no, 2 inches to the right - and then took the most horrible, blurry picture of life. His manager had to re-do it, and said none of those rules were true. I think they're made up on the spot.

  2. Hey! I am a new follower! My fiancé is about to start med-school, and we are getting married in June! I would LOVE to chat and get advice from you since you are a doctor wife as well!
