real fall versus blog fall

Having lived in Louisiana for most of my life and loving the idea of fall, I never truly knew what a real fall was like. For the past few years, I've been relying on bloggers in cooler climates to show me.

Now that I live in a "cooler climate" myself (have you heard? It's cold here!), I know the truth. There's blog fall, which is pumpkin-scented and crisp and lovely and all of those other words bloggers like to throw around.

But then there's real fall. The greater blog population doesn't tell you about real fall.

So I will.

  4. Hahaha, this is so true - love the idea! My real fall consists of a lot of rain and really cold feet - yuck!

  5. You left off the main issue with real fall: FREEZING MY BUNS OFF. Totally willing to forgo the cute boots + tights to avoid that. At least raking keeps a girl warm...

Lovely photos - looks like you're enjoying the storybook fall and some nice vigorous yard work to boot. Not bad at all!

  6. hilarious!! bloggers do tend to sugar coat and we eat it up like its the raw truth. i think in the movies they call that a willing suspension of disbelief.

on cold weather: we didn't know how to operate the hot water radiators and texted our landlord a million times asking how to turn them on. i know he thinks we are major idiots. i also am terrified of the radiators (we have 4) and the 50+ year old boiler down in the basement. i didn't sleep at all the first night we turned the heat on (which was last week). i love these mountain falls but i do miss my warm and muggy SC and the ease of electric heat!

btw, i love your boots. where are they from???

  8. the changing leaves are so pretty in 'cooler places' though. when we were in maine last week, we couldn't get over that the leaves were actually changing in october, & not january, like in louisiana. i can imagine the up-keep of all those leaves is not fun, though.

  11. hahahah. love this. but ya know, blog fall makes you see the good happy things about fall sometimes instead of the "real fall" all the time

  13. you are soooo right. blog fall is definitely more appealing than real fall. I bet blog winter is the same way.

  14. That is so funny! Great post. You are so right! Blog fall is so "It's a pumpkin spice latte kind of day after my run through the perfect park where I burned 900 calories and it didn't even hurt." versus "It is cold and it is wet." I am jaded now, too :)
